The Living Lab
About The Living Lab
The Living Lab is a Capilano furniture store at 1121 West 15th Street featuring Canadian-made sofas, chairs, and home decor for North Shore homes.
West 15th Street has long functioned as a practical corridor for North Shore home projects, sitting just west of Lonsdale in the Capilano area, and 1121 West 15th Street is where The Living Lab fits into that mix. The showroom gives Capilano and the wider North Shore a place to see and sit in furniture before deciding on something for the home, rather than choosing based on photos alone. That distinction matters most for larger purchases like sofas and chairs, where scale and comfort are hard to judge from a screen.
Shopping for furniture in person lets you compare proportions, cushion firmness, and material choices side by side, which is especially useful in a home with an older layout or unusual room dimensions, both common on the North Shore. A showroom visit also makes it easier to picture how a piece will actually sit in a space, since colour and texture can look different under a store's lighting than they will at home. For anyone furnishing a post-and-beam house or a smaller condo, seeing the real thing before committing tends to save a return trip later.
Showroom stock can shift over time, so checking current inventory and hours before visiting is a sensible first step. For North Shore residents who would rather sit in a chair than guess at it online, The Living Lab offers a local, in-person option at 1121 West 15th Street in Capilano. Their site, linked here, is worth a look before making the trip over.
